On Thursday June 22nd composer Matt Hulse visits Beijing’s Bookworm to present his unusual new song venture THE PET PROJECT.
Since early 2017 he’s been writing and recording songs to commission about a wide variety of pets and their devoted owners (some of whom will be in the audience).
He’ll play out tracks from the debut album – including songs about dogs, cats, hens, a squirrel, a goldfish and a plastic snail – and explore the process of adaptation that he calls psychoanimalysm, a process that begins with in-depth pet / owner interviews and ends in a song.
Accompanied by fellow free-spirit Vicky Mohieddeen he will also perform selected works live, and will screen clips of award-winning films he’s made with a number of dogs.
Pawed copies of the CD will be available at a reduced launch price.
Tickets are 80RMB (includes a drink) and you can grab them here
